| CELEBRATE RECOVERY OFFERS HOPE AND SUPPORT Bob and Peg were seeking a way to help their son, who was addicted to drugs. However, in their search, they became aware of their own need for help. They began attending the Network of Hope's Celebrate Recovery, a program based on AA's 12 Steps, as well as principles from the Bible's Beatitudes. They sat under Celebrate's teachings, and talked to people there who were in recovery from drugs and/or alcohol as well as to co-dependents (family members or friends of addicts). As they did so, they realized that just as the first principle of recovery from substance abuse is to step out of denial, so it is with the parents or spouse of a person addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. They were faced with the fact that if they did not begin taking some positive steps to heal themselves, they never would be any help to their son. They were powerless over their son’s addiction and his addictive behavior. Bob and Peg have come a long way in their own healing journey in the last few years. Now they have a strong desire to share what they have learned with hurting parents. They have recently begun a group for parents whose children (both teens and adults) are addicted to drugs. The group meets at 7: 00 p.m. every Wednesday at Allison Park Church, as part of Celebrate Recovery. The Celebrate Recovery meetings at Allison Park Church offer other groups each week. Dave leads a group of men in recovery from substance abuse. His wife Cindy facilitates a group for women who have loved ones with drug and/or alcohol issues. In addition, Barb hosts a group for women recovering from drugs and/or alcohol. There are also groups for Anger Management and a group for Women who are currently in an abusive relationship or have a history of being abused. If you are struggling with an addiction, or if you know someone who is, come join us at Celebrate Recovery.
